My aesthetic philosophy is centered on the concept of less. I came of age in the 1990s, a time of extreme minimalism a la Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang, and Jil Sander. I subscribe to a simplicity and abstraction. The first allows the mind to process shape and emotions without complexity, and the second, which allows the audience the freedom to interpret a piece as they wish. I’m personally drawn to art that makes an impact, that has strength with softness. I like to incorporate fluid edges and unfinished touches that create softness. Set against negative space, all of those things are accomplished.
